What Happens When You Set a Goal?
The moment you set a goal—whether it’s about money, relationships, spirituality, or anything else—you are doing something far bigger than just making a decision. You are sending your intent out into the universe. Your mind and body, which are insanely powerful when aligned, begin radiating that energy. And the moment you do this, something interesting happens—you are instantly considered a potential recipient of the goal you just set.
But here’s the thing—before you actually get it, you will be tested.
Every Goal Comes with a Test
Think about it. You don’t just get a job because you want it; you go through an interview. You don’t get a degree just by signing up for college; you sit for exams. Goals work the same way.
If you set a goal to make $1 million in six months, you’re essentially telling the universe: I am ready to receive this. But before it hands it to you, it will check—Do you really deserve it?
And that test won’t just be about whether you can make money. You’ll be tested on:
- Do you have the skills?
- Do you have the discipline?
- What will you do once you have the money?
- Will you remain grounded, or will success ruin you?
Same thing with relationships. You set a goal for a deeply fulfilling relationship—great. But now, life will test you on patience, communication, understanding, and whether you’re emotionally mature enough to handle one.
Spiritual goals? Even harder. The test will challenge your persistence, your devotion, your ability to stay on the path despite distractions.
And no two people’s tests are the same.
It’s Not About Strategy—It’s About Who You Become
A lot of people think that when they fail at a goal, it’s because they didn’t have the right plan. That’s rarely the case. Strategy is important, but it’s not what determines success. What really matters is who you need to become to deserve that goal.
So, the first thing I do when I set a goal is sit down and ask myself:
- What is my intent behind this goal?
- What are the three key traits I must develop to achieve this?
- How do I start practicing them now?
Because the truth is, most failures happen not because of a bad strategy, but because people don’t become the kind of person who naturally attracts and holds onto their success.
My Own Experience with This
I once set a goal to completely detoxify my life—mentally, physically, and emotionally—for 30 days. I decided I would cut out all negativity, toxic relationships, and self-sabotaging habits.
The moment I set that goal, I was tested. Hard. Suddenly, I found myself facing exactly the kind of negativity I was trying to get rid of. People, situations, old habits—everything showed up to test me.
And that’s when I realized: This is part of the process. The universe wasn’t trying to stop me—it was asking me, Do you really want this? Are you actually ready?
I had to prove myself. I had to stay firm, stay intentional, and push through. And by the end of those 30 days, I wasn’t just free from negativity—I had become someone who didn’t even entertain it anymore. That’s the real power of a goal.
Take the 30-Day Challenge: Who Do You Need to Become?
Try this for yourself. Pick a goal—any goal. And don’t just write down what you want. Instead, sit with it and ask:
- Who do I need to become to make this happen?
- What are the top 3 qualities I must develop?
- How can I start practicing them today?
Because in the end, it’s not about what you want. It’s about who you are willing to become to get it.
So set your goal. Accept the test. Become worthy of the life you desire.
And watch what happens.
Every time you meditate, you become more powerful.
Imagine a river—its waters flowing in all directions, branching into tiny streams, getting lost in the landscape. Some streams trickle into the soil, others evaporate, and only a small portion reaches its destination. Now, picture the same river dammed and directed with purpose—the force becomes unstoppable, generating power that can light up entire cities.
This is exactly what happens to your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual energy when you meditate.
